Founded in 2018, CHUANG Stage is Boston's first Asian American professional theatre company. We create joyful and radical Asian American theatre in the languages our communities live in, and open new doors to the arts for those who have long been excluded.
As a resident company at the Boston Center for the Arts in the South End, CHUANG has become an artistic home for pan-Asian theatremakers across Greater Boston. We are nationally recognized for new plays that advance a translingual aesthetic. With tickets starting at $0 and community gatherings at nearly every performance, we bring audiences together from Boston Chinatown and Asian immigrant neighborhoods across the region.
OUR 2026-27 SEASON
CHUANG Stage's 2026–27 season, Reclaiming the Epics, features The Sitayana (Or How to Make an Exit) by Lavina Jadhwani, directed by Tushar Mathew, and Laowang: A Chinatown King Lear by Alex Lin, directed by Michael Hisamoto, alongside the continued development of locally rooted new work.
RADICAL ACCESIBILITY IN ARTS
All of our events feature a "Pay-As-You-Are with $0 Minimum" tiered pricing model. This model provides radical access to theatre for those who identify as working-class immigrants of Asian American descent, a population in Boston underrepresented in arts and culture patrons.

CHUANG Stage is a 2023-2026 Launchpad Theatre Resident of the Boston Center for the Arts! The residency grants us access to rehearsal and performance spaces, mentorship, administrative and production support, marketing, and a platform for producing and performing innovative new work.
