Found in Translation
“Found in Translation” is our annual summer public art collaboration with Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center/Pao Arts Center and the social collective Asian American Theatre Artists of Boston (AATAB). This initiative transforms the cultural experiences and artistic accessibility of Boston Chinatown by bringing joyful theatrical experiences to its doorsteps.
Since 2021, “Found in Translation” has activated community spaces with six staged readings by playwrights of the Asian Diaspora.

Flight of a Legless Bird follows the intertwined lives of Robin and Leslie, two queer artists from the 1980s to the 2000s.
The Ghost of Keelung
In the present, a woman visits her family home in Taiwan to appease an ancestral wrong. Back in 1956, a young woman begins working at a bar for American sailors and falls for one of them with dire consequences.
Chosen Family
Chosen Family weaves together the Vietnamese-American diaspora with Buddhist reincarnation theory. In this lies the piece’s Dramatic Question: if you knew everything you know now, would you do it all over again?
A Deal
A DEAL is a dark comedy that follows a Chinese family's home buying journey in New York under the backdrop of a China-US economic crisis originally in winter 2015, while still touching on many of the great issues of today:
Our Time Machine
When Shanghai artist Maleonn realizes that his father suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, he creates “Papa’s Time Machine,” a magical, autobiographical stage performance featuring incredible life-size mechanical puppets.
